AI & Your Likeness
Last updated: June 12, 2026
Calibre generates photos from your selfies. This page explains exactly what that means for your face, your data, and your rights — in plain language.
01These images are not photographs
Every image Calibre produces is AI-generated. It is not a photograph captured by a camera. It is a synthetic image built from patterns learned from your selfies, designed to look like you in a plausible scene — but that scene does not exist, and the moment was never real.
Your generated photos are meant to represent you accurately and naturally — the same face, the same vibe, just in a better setting than your bathroom mirror. They are not meant to and should not depict events, places, or relationships that are fabricated or misleading in ways that go beyond normal photography editing.
We generate photos only of the person depicted in the selfies you upload. We do not generate images of other people, celebrities, or fictional individuals.
02How your likeness is used
Your likeness — your face and the other features visible in your selfies — is used for one purpose only: to generate the photos you request. We do not:
- use your likeness to train AI models that are shared with or licensed to third parties;
- use your face in advertising, marketing, or promotional materials without your explicit prior consent;
- sell, rent, or otherwise transfer your likeness or facial data to any third party for their independent use.
When we pass your selfies to our AI processing sub-processors (the third-party models that perform the generation), those processors handle your data under data-processing agreements that restrict their use to inference (generating your photos) only. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
03Biometric and facial data
Your selfies contain facial geometry and other biometric identifiers. Some jurisdictions — including Illinois (BIPA), Texas, and Washington — classify this as regulated biometric data. Regardless of where you live, we treat facial data with extra care:
- We collect and process facial data solely to generate the photos you request.
- We do not sell biometric data under any circumstances.
- We do not retain extracted facial-geometry vectors beyond what is operationally necessary for the Service.
- Right to deletion. You can delete your uploaded selfies and your generated photos at any time from your account settings. When you delete your account, all uploads, generated outputs, and associated biometric data are permanently purged from our systems. Details are in our Privacy Policy.
04Using AI photos honestly on dating apps
Calibre photos are designed to look like you — not a different person, not an idealised fiction. The point is to present your best self, not to misrepresent who you are. We ask that you use them the same way.
Specifically, you agree not to use Calibre-generated photos in a way that is intentionally deceptive — for example, by presenting yourself as significantly younger, thinner, or different in appearance from what you actually look like. Photos that look like you and are simply more flattering than your average selfie are fine; photos that are so altered that a date would not recognise you are not.
Some dating platforms also have their own policies on AI-generated content. You are responsible for checking and complying with the terms of any platform on which you use your photos. See also the Acceptable Use section of our Terms of Service.
05Accuracy and limitations
AI image generation is not perfect. Results can include subtle imperfections — a slightly off hand, an unusual background element, a minor inconsistency in lighting. These are artefacts of the technology, not bugs we can immediately fix.
You are responsible for reviewing your generated photos before using them. If a result looks wrong — something that would embarrass you or misrepresent you — do not post it. Use the reroll feature to generate a replacement, or contact support if you believe there is a consistent problem with your character setup.
We do not guarantee that every generated image will be flawless or that all images in a generation batch will be equally good. Credits used for a generation are consumed when the generation completes, regardless of whether you choose to keep the result.
06Your control over your data and outputs
You are in control of everything Calibre stores about your appearance:
- Delete your selfies at any time from the Character page in your account settings.
- Delete individual generated photos from your gallery at any time.
- Delete your entire account from the Settings page. This permanently removes your uploads, character data, generated photos, and account information from our systems.
Deletion requests are processed within 30 days. After deletion, we retain only what is required by law (for example, transaction records for tax purposes). Your selfies and generated images are not retained after account deletion.
